Reverse DNS lookup has been discontinued!

Publish Date: Tuesday, June 20, 2006

The reverse DNS lookup, which we have introduced a week ago as a security improvement in our reseller web hosting network mailing system has been discontinued. We have received numerous feedbacks from our customers who complain that they cannot receive mail.

The reverse DNS lookup is an industry standard, which was also set by the major companies in the online business to prevent spam spreading. It is important for resolving back the sender's IP address. Then reverse DNS is used to check if a sender's e-mail address belongs to the same domain. However, it seems that most of the senders still have not implemented this setting correctly for their mail servers, and in result our clients are not able to receive mail from all of their contacts.

We have decided to discontinue the reverse DNS lookup of the senders so that our clients can receive mail from everyone, unfortunately from spammers as well. In the future we may enable reverse DNS lookup again to increase the security level of our free reseller hosting program.
