.ASIA Domain History & Purpose
.ASIA is a brand new TLD (Top Level Domain) approved by the world's domain name regulatory organization ICANN on 19 October 2006. The reason for introduction of the new TLD was to meet the demands of the fast expanding Asian market. The new TLD integrated the diversity of ccTLDs for the Asian countries, bringing them together under a single TLD that represents the entire Asian region.
Registration of .ASIA domains passed through three stages - "sunrise period" in which trademark owners could register a domain name, "land rush" period when registrars only received applications for registration without actually registering domains and the third stage, started on 26 March 2008 in which the domain finally became opened for registrations. The recent introduction of the TLD suggests that there are many available .ASIA domains which are likely to become high return investments if registered and sold at a later time.

A company using domain name that has long expiration date will be considered more trustworthy.
