SubDomain Manager Tutorial
The SubDomain Manager section of the SS Web Hosting Control Panel lists all user web directory SubDomains. Using the SubDomain Manager, users can enable/disable FPE (FrontPage Extensions) and SSL (Secure Socket Layer), see the SubDomain Traffic stats, edit or delete the SubDomain or browse and edit it contents.
To enable or disable FPE (FrontPage Extensions) users should click on the corresponding icon (either a red sign or green tick) right under the "FPE" section of the SubDomain table. On the next screen users should check the "Activate FPE" check-box and click on the "Apply" button. Keep in mind that all SubDomain modifications require 10 minutes to fully update the web server settings.
Should a user want to use or deactivate SSL (Secure Socket Layer) for a specific SubDomain, he must click on the icon (either a red sign or green tick) right under the "SSL" section of the SubDomain table. On the next screen users should use the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) drop menu to choose either "Do not use SSL", "Generate SSL certificate" or "Upload SSL certificate". Should users choose "Generate SSL certificate", an SSL certificate will be generated and used for the specified SubDomain. If a user would like to upload an existing SSL certificate, after selecting "Upload SSL certificate", a menu with "Key", "Certificate", "Request" and "CA" will pop up. After the 4 sections have been filled out, users should simply click on the "Apply" button to upload the specific SSL certificate.
Users can also add and activate a new SubDomain by filling out the fields at the bottom of the SubDomain Manager page. First of all, users should enter the SubDomain prefix name and choose which Domain name it should be added to by selecting it using the drop menu to the right. Next, choose an IP address for the SubDomain. If there is no additional IP, the default Domain IP will be used. Users must also choose a path for the SubDomain using the button next to the field to select a directory on the server, where all new SubDomain files will be stored. Should a user want to have a custom Error 404 page, then he should fill in the exact address in the "Error 404 page" field. This Error page will appear each time a web site visitor tries to access a unexisting web page within the SubDomain. To use the default Error 404 page, simply leave the field blank. To Activate FPE (FrontPage Extensions) for the SubDomain, users must check the "Activate FPE" box. As with FPE, to activate the Access and Error Logs, simply check the box next to "Activate access & error logs". This will enable or disable the logging of access requests and errors for the SubDomain.
