DNS Zone

From the Domain Name System's point of view, a DNS Zone is a portion of the global Domain Name System namespace, a particular Domain Name System entity has rights over and can manage/authorize. From a server's point of view, the DNS Zone is a database file that has DNS records stored in it. All root or non-root DNS servers communicate with each other by attempting name resolution with the help of the DNS Zones.
