Linux daemons

In Unix-like Operating Systems, such as Linux, as well as in other multitasking operational systems, a daemon is a computer program that runs in the background and is usually initiated as a background process rather than being called or operated by a definite user. Those daemons are mostly started at boot time. They care for running processes that are important to the system.
